TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
I recently completed playing the mother in the short independent film, "The Viewing," written and directed by Linnda Durre' and produced by Mike Hersh. From beginning to end, it was a wonderful experience.
Most auditions make actors feel insecure and inadequate with the casting directors remaining straight faced and looking bored. When I left Linnda and Mike's audition, I was elated and felt that, whether I got the part or not, I had brought an element to the character that they liked. They were effusive with their compliments and praise.
Linnda is a caring, gentle director, and yet she expects and demands the best. Her directions were clear and she was willing to listen to our suggestions. When we made mistakes, she was always patient, which made us want to do our best. I was surprised at how smooth and efficient the shoot went. I had no idea so much could be accomplished in just two days.
The crew she chose was very professional and it was a pleasure to work with them. I particularly enjoyed working with Sarah Benz Phillips, who played my daughter. Because the story is very serious, we found ourselves joking around between takes while setting up for the next one. Linnda encouraged this as long as it didn't slow down the process. So we not only turned out the movie, we had fun doing it.
I truly hope that I will someday get the chance to work with Linnda and Mike again. It was a wonderful experience.
Sincerely yours,
Mimi Lipka

To Whom It May Concern:
Portraying the daughter in “The Viewing” was an actor’s dream. It is not often one is allowed the luxury of expressing the deep, raw emotion that is elicited in such a tightly woven and powerful script as “ The Viewing.” Being guided by a sensitive, nurturing director as Linnda Durre’ further reinforced the experience and enabled me to relax and allow the necessary creative and emotional energy to spring forth. From the audition process in which I read with several actresses and was gently encouraged to show the strength and vulnerability of the character to the final “wrap,” it was an amazing ride.
Linnda skillfully and carefully permitted us to explore the mother-daughter relationship without dampening the natural passions that rose to the surface. Linnda and the crew she assembled were fast-moving, competent, worked well under pressure, and what normally would have been a four day shoot was accomplished in two sixteen- hour days. I felt that I was not only working in a professional atmosphere, but a warm and supportive environment as well.
I have studied acting and been involved in theatre for more than twenty years. Some of my favorite roles have included: Lady Macbeth in “Macbeth,” Olivia in “Twelfth Night,” Titania in “Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Mrs. Page in “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” Mrs. Frank in “The Diary of Anne Frank,” Laura and Amanda (at different times in my life) in “The Glass Menagerie,” Miss Maudie in “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Margery Pinchwife in “The Country Wife,” Claire in “Rumors,” Elaine in ‘The Miss Firecracker Contest,” Evita’s sister in “Evita,” Domina in “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” Mrs. Allen in “Dark of the Moon,” and the Lady in “The Lady of Larkspur Lotion.” I have been privileged to act in local films also and to be an extra in Steven Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” and the CBS movie “Mission of the Shark.”
Fortunately, all of these experiences prepared me to be in the unique and honored position to play the daughter in “The Viewing.” Thus, I can highly recommend Linnda Durre’ as a visionary screenwriter, acting coach, producer, and director.
Sincerely,
Sarah Benz Phillips

Dr. Durre,
I wanted to thank you for inviting me to the DMAC this past Friday for the screening of the four short films. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the event, and it gave him a chance to see what the "film world" was all about. At least locally!
The film you wrote, directed, and produced, The Viewing, was excellent. Most notably was the mother's acting. That was awesome talent! I can see why you asked the audience not to hate her. I also enjoyed the initial scenes with the florals and music. My other favorite was 6 Out of 7.
Again, thank you for the opportunity to join. You and Scott Dupont have made me feel like a participant, not an observer, in this new "film world".
I look forward to seeing you again soon. Also, please let me know if I can ever help you with any projects.
My best regards,
Katie Roof

Hi Linnda, Just returned from Atlanta last week and read in Friday's paper about your short film making it into the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. How exciting! It's too far to share a table as we did once for the Enzian Film Festival, but I know you'll be thrilled and ringside for the event. I'm so happy for you. Does this make you a bona-fide celebrity? If so, enjoy every moment.
Regards, Fran Wyatt - Winter Park
