DR. LINNDA DURRE’’S BIO


When Dr. Linnda Durre’ sold a TV series to Aaron Spelling, she was admitted to the Writers Guild of America West (WGAw). She wrote and hosted five segments for Disney Channel’s “Great Ideas,” and for two years was a judge for two “Best Writing” categories for cable TV’s Ace Awards, until they were absorbed into the Emmy Awards.

She studied screenwriting at the American Film Institute and at the Robert McKee Screenwriting Seminar, and has written five feature length scripts. She was admitted to AFTRA. As a lyricist, she was admitted to ASCAP and she collaborates with different song-writing partners.

She wrote directed, and produced the film, “The Viewing,” from a script she wrote for the Master Class in Playwriting with Edward Albee. It was a finalist in the "Best of Florida/Made in Florida Film Festival" held on July 8-10 in Ft. Lauderdale at Cinema Paradiso.

She will produce, direct, and star in her original script, “Such A Deal.” She is associate producer and creative consultant for Gretchen Van Aken’s one-woman show, “Called Girl.”

Her screenplay for the full length feature film and love story, "Meant To Be," has signed letters of intent from Oscar nominee Bruce Davison (Longtime Companion, Runaway Jury, X Men, The Practice); seven time Emmy winner and five time Golden Globe winner, Ed Asner, and Marion Ross (Mrs. Cunningham on Happy Days).

She is the script consultant and producer of, “The Creed,” written, directed and produced by Adam Arnali. She was a producer and presenter at the 15th Annual Crystal Reel Awards associated with the FMPTA.

She has had roles in the Florida films: “Roommate Unwanted,” “The Touch,” “Smack,” “Disposable Loan Shark,” “Children of the Concrete,” and “Perspectives,” playing roles as diverse as a judge, counselor, grandmother, and crack addict.

She studied acting with renown acting coaches, Laura Rose and Larry Rice of LR Studios in North Hollywood, CA; with actor and director, Mark Feder of San Diego; and, for two and half years, she attended the famous Lembeck Improvisational Comedy Workshop in Beverly Hills, where students have included, Robin Williams, John Ritter, and Penny Marshall.

She appeared in three student films at USC and one for the California Institute for the Arts in Valencia, California; in several plays and as an assistant director in New York, as well as a play at the Harman Theater in Los Angeles, which called for her doing five different character parts in accents.

She has written jokes for comedians, performed stand-up in Los Angeles at The Comedy Store and The Improv, at Creative Stages in Winter Park, FL and on “Comedy Night School” on Channel 6, WKMG, the CBS affiliate in Orlando, as well as at the Speakeasy Comedy Club in Sanford, FL, with the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Troupe doing improvisational comedy.

Besides her creative work, she is a nationally recognized marriage and family counselor and psychotherapist in private practice for 26 years. Dr. Durre¢ holds three K-6 teaching credentials (NY, NJ, & CA) and taught nursery school and first grade. A member of Mensa, Dr. Durre’ was an adjunct professor of psychology and intern supervisor at Rollins College and is an internship supervisor at UCF and WPT.

Her interviews include: 60 Minutes, Oprah, Good Morning America, The Today Show, The O’Reilly Factor, NY Times, LA Times, Orlando Sentinel and its Florida Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner, USA Today, San Diego Union and Tribune, Orlando Business Journal, Christian Science Monitor, Parade Magazine, Variety, Screen Actor, Backstage, Focus In, and Hollywood Reporter.

She writes a column called, “New Faces,” for Florida’s monthly entertainment newspaper, “Focus In,” featuring newcomers to Florida’s industry, and writes a column, “The Doctor Is In,” for the Orlando Business Journal.

Currently she is the weekly "shrink" commentator on WB's nationally syndicated morning show from 6 AM-9 AM, "The Daily Buzz," in 150 markets. She appears every Wednesday at 7:20 AM, dispensing advice on marriage, relationships, sex, children, teens, self-esteem, careers, in-laws, neighbors, co-workers, bosses, and other psychological issues.
